10 year anniversary to Hot Springs

Nick and I have been married 10 years (on the 27th)! We celebrated our milestone anniversary by leaving the kids with Nana for an overnight at Ainsworth Hot Springs. We stayed in one of their new rooms overlooking the lake and mountains. They felt like mini condos and have beautiful balconies. It felt like such a treat to be away! It took awhile to feel relaxed being away from the kids. Any other parents relate to this?! The last time we went away, Oaklin was two! Some alone time was overdo to say the least!

We stopped in Kaslo, and walked the shops. I had to shake off the car sickness! (Haha mountain driving for you!). We took a walk to the beach and admired how peaceful the water was.

Then Nicholas pulled a MAJOR surprise. I did not see this one coming…

He said we should take some pictures at the water and so he set up the camera and while we were standing there together he handed me a little black ring box! I was 100%, not even a little, not expecting this beautiful ring for this anniversary. There were some tears off camera!

I could not stop staring at my hand! It felt just like I was engaged and couldn’t stop pulling my hand up to my face to glance another look.

We checked into our room and we got settled before heading to the hot springs for our first soak! We went into the cave and the tension of leaving the kids began to ease! We knew they were in good hands, but it’s always so hard to leave (especially when you have a kid or two who is very upset with your absence).

We got ready for dinner- two parents dressed up!

We ordered a mocktail mojito (my favourite) and non alcoholic pilsners. The best thing about dinner was the appetizers! We tried Elk skewers… omg. So delicious! And a fresh Caesar salad to share. Nick got the burger and I had the chicken burger.

After dinner, we had another soak in the hot springs while enjoying almost empty waters. The resort is open late for hotel guests which was a really nice experience.

We were so relaxed! At this point, finally, we were fully relaxed from being away. It took several hours for our nervous systems to regulate. It was so nice to just spend quality time together and laugh and have a great time together!

We were like kids again! Haha We stayed up late- a luxury you can’t afford when you have several kids waking you up during the night and early the next morning. We watched Pitch Perfect and The Breakfast Club in bed while eating dessert.

The next morning we went straight to the water for the last time before checking out! But first, coffee on the balcony!

I’m so thankful for the memories made here and for the gift it was to get away, rest our hearts and heads and celebrate all that has come in ten years.

To many, many more 🤍
