After a very helpful therapy session, we decided to focus on getting everyone sleeping better! We moved Harland out of our room and into his own room- and into a crib! This was really hard for me, but clearly not for him. He handled the change like a champ and is now sleeping through the night (insert happy dance).
We extended better sleep patterns to the older three as well and encouraged them with a sleep sticker chart. We started off with 5 days of sleeping equals a toy they get to pick, then it went up to 10 days and now it’s 13 days. After getting their shared room all set up for success, they’ve been doing an incredible job staying in their beds at night time and self soothing instead of mom and dad having to sit in their rooms. Progress has been made!
All this better sleep kickstarted our bedroom mini makeover. We upgraded to a king mattress (heavenly!) and made a few small changes to make the room feel comfortable. We did buy a television for the room… and I know, I know, screens aren’t great for the bedroom! But I’ve been loving having my own little “nest” where I hide out in after the kids are asleep and Nick is on nights. I bring up a little tray of a snack and a cup of Calm tea for the night and I don’t leave the room! I feel so relaxed at the end of the day with a space that’s not kid-ish and somewhere that’s cozy and mine!
One day it would be nice to add a chair, but for now, this is everything I need!

Moral of the story… listen to your therapist 😉🥰
