We moved to British Columbia almost two years ago this June! We moved in to our rental and very soon after my husband began his new job (three days after moving!), we had our fourth baby and the kids started a new school. We pretty much got here and moved in with lightening speed.
Now some time later, we feel more settled in BC life and have made small changes to make our place feel more like home.
This last week, we’ve been tackling our master bedroom and bathroom. More on the bedroom soon! For now, I’d love to share the small changes we made to our bathroom to make it feel more… adult lol.
And I say WE because yes, Nick went shopping and picked out a few things himself!
The changes are small, but they can make an impact!

Here’s a few changes we did that you can try too.
-Swapped out the plastic shower curtain for a fabric one
-Added vintage wall art
-Incorporated old milk glass as a bougie toothbrush holder
-Changed tired towels to fresh linen ones
-A replenishing basket equipped with extra towels and toilet paper
-A tray to group all “essentials” (instead of all over the counter)
-I also took the mirror down over the vanity and replaced it with something lighter and smaller. The previous one was square with a very chunky laminate frame.
-A slim garbage can that’s barely there
-Fancy hand soap as the cherry on top!

It’s not about what you have- but how you use it! A lot of these items I pulled from my “stock pile” aka storage under my stairs or from other parts of my home that could do without. I’m a big believer that you don’t need to spend lots of money to make your space feel like home. You also don’t have to keep up with what’s trending or change your space seasonally, if you don’t want to. This bathroom was definitely neglected since moving in- and this welcomed change is a breath of fresh mountain air!
